One Direction’s hit single What Makes You Beautiful was covered by US singer Josh Groban at the Emmy Awards 2012 as a tribute piece for an in memoriam segment on Jimmy Kimmel.
Before the US singer Groban performed, Jimmy said: “I think it’s a shame that we wait to do this (in-memoriam tribute) until after our legends pass. It’s important to celebrate the living too, so tonight I’d like you to join me in paying tribute to the life and work of someone all of us, someone every person in this room admires, respects and loves.”
They also performed different scenes such as Jimmy’s bathroom scene with Oprah Winfrey, a September 2009 montage featuring Matt Damon walking off the set because the show ran out of time and Jimmy’s “romantic” scene with Ben Affleck.
Jimmy said his trademark apology ,”I’d like to apologize to Matt Damon. We run out of time,” before Josh wrapped it up by crooning, “Sorry Matt Damon,” before Josh wrapped it up by vocalizing, “Sorry Matt Damon.”
